The War Against Metal
In 1985  Tipper Gore and several others decided to try to censor the voice of heavy metal music.
Evidently they didn't like the lyrics of Blackie Lawless of W.A.S.P. and Quiet Riot.

The claim was the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Twisted Sister were "destroying" our children.

Dee Snider and Frank Zappa went to congress as well as John Denver to plead the case against censorship.  Zappa labeled these overzealous extremists the "Washington Wives".  They testified before a senate comittee and the result was a parental advisory rating system that is still in use today.

Metalheads everywhere should remember and applaud those who were willing to go to Washington and stand up for their beliefs.  This once again proves that exercising the right to vote and being able to speak your mind are two of the things that make this country great!
